Drew in D.C.

A couple of weeks ago, Drew flew to D.C. to play in a flag football tournament with some of his old San Diego teammates. Here are the Bolts:

My Uncle Jeff, Aunt Barbara, and cousin Julia live in the area and got to see Andrew in action. Uncle Jeff took many great pics of the game and Andrew's plays.

....made the catch for a touchdown!

Drew told me that he had so much fun playing in all of the games.

The Bolts beat out 18 teams to make it to the championship game and lost the tournament by one stinkin' point! Second place:

Drew and some of the guys got to go on a special White House tour because they knew someone on the inside. Here they are outside of Obama's digs:

The fellas had a couple days to tour all the important stops:

Drew also got a chance to have dinner with more members on my side of the family in Maryland. I just wish I could have gone with him!

Time for a heart to heart

Silly blog titles aside, I can't go on posting until I have relayed a very big event that occurred in our lives. My Dad just survived what was essentially a failing heart, after being rushed to the hospital for an emergency surgery to have a pacemaker installed in his chest. It was one of the scariest moments of my life; after numerous attempts to reach my parents on the phone, my fears were confirmed when I arrived at an empty house. Fortunately, my worst fear wasn't confirmed, because the doctors were able to treat this problem in time, and my Dad should be able to resume a normal life with the miraculous device in his chest. And miraculous is exactly how my Dad describes this event (much more eloquently than I am) on his blog:

I love my Dad so much and will treasure the blessing that God gave us: many memories to come.
Here he is in one of my favorite recent memories- our trip to San Francisco for New Year's:

We love you, Dad

The two furry additions to the Mitchell family

Well, in a strange turn of events, we did not get the puppy from our recent post. Drew had picked the littlest one and there was not enough milk for her. Needless to say, she didn't make it. I got the news at work and was feeling very sad, when God's closed door/open window plan took affect. After I told my Mom the news, my Dad had happened to read about 12 beagle puppies in the paper that very morning. So we paid a little visit and fell in love with a little reddish girl. We didn't expect our minds to quickly change from one pup to two, but after watching the little ones play together, we knew we needed another. So Drew left it up to me to choose another little girl to bring home. But I found a cute little boy instead!
This is Sawyer. Andrew calls him a "Mama's Boy," but in truth, he loves to be held by anyone.

I don't think we have a good picture of Lady. At first, we didn't want to use the name Lady again, so we tossed around names like Ginger and Mabel. But when she came home, she immediately went to the bathroom on the puppy mat and just has this polished way about her. We couldn't see her as anything but a little Lady. I don't think you can tell from the pictures, but she has pretty green eyes.

Fact: Lady loves to sleep. Anywhere.

Especially on feet, I guess

The puppies have two beds, but usually sleep together in one.

They sure are a handful, but their cuteness compensates for it! And yes, this is fair warning that Drew and I will probably take lots of pictures of them because they just make us smile so much!
